The best hike in Haleakala National Park

Starting at the Haleakala visitors center – this hike takes you from thought the Summit District at the Sliding Sands trail all the way to Paliku cabin and campsite. Then a return on the Halemauu Trail to the Halemauu Trailhead. Over 20 miles in this special place which vibrates with stories of ancient and modern Hawaiian culture and protects the bond between the land and its people. The park also cares for endangered species, some of which exist nowhere else.
